The day before riding into Maun Catherine had a bad bike crash - caught on her own camera for posterity. She had been riding and videoing the riders she was with and not seen a pot-hole (more like a crater) in the road ahead. I hope she manages to put her video on her website - how many people film thier own bike crashes?? She had come off the bike doing around 30k and landed on her elbow, which was X-rayed in Maun and found to be broken and needing surgery. I have now lost my little room-share buddy, as she had to leave the tour three weeks before the end and fly to Cape Town for her arm operation. Catherine is tough, and accepted what had to be, but she is a great loss to the group. She will be re-joining us a couple of days before cycling into Cape Town, and hopefully we can rig up some way of getting her on a bike for the final ride in. We all miss zee crazee French cycliste.
