Donations and sponsorship

All the costs incurred to participate in the Tour d'Afrique (entry fee and flights) have already been met by my business, Planalyse Ltd.  This means that any sponsorship money and donations received will be distributed entirely between the following  charities.

bulletUnicef (50%)
bulletCancer Research UK (50%)

I  came to the conclusion that the best way to deal with illness and disease would be to invent a time-machine, travel back in time to identify the cause of the illness and eliminate it.  In view of the fact that such time-travel technology is in scare supply at the moment, the next best thing available is a worldwide programme of vaccination and immunisation against preventable illnesses and diseases in the developing world.  Unicef is the world's largest organisation committed to delivering immunisation programmes to children in developing countries.

Before a disease can be eliminated, someone needs to find out what makes it tick.  If someone someone hadn't found out what made my illness tick, I wouldn't be here to be rambling on about time-machines.

These two charities are my own personal choices, there are many other worthy causes being supported by other participants in the Tour d'Afrique.  Please visit the www.tourdafrique.com to view other rider causes.

Donations can be made by secure credit card payment or paypal transfer. All funds donated will be held securely in a dedicated Planalyse Ltd Tour d'Afrique account and funds distributed when I return from Africa in June 2006.
